How computation applies to my interests.
Throughout the past few years, I've been working within the graphic design field. There're many projects I've been involved in that have somehow related to the area of technology and computation. It can be an interactive feature in a. branding project that makes the consumer feels more connected to the business, can be an immersive experience in an exhibition, or simply generates new visual language easily and accordingly using codes. These made me realized that living in the world right now, the future and computation are inseparable. Therefore I'm here to develop my skillsets in computation.
Projects I imagine making this term.
In this term, I'm imagining to utilized my background in visual and graphic design. Working on projects that are more towards data visualization and generative coding (responsive typography...etc). There's a part in a book project I did last year that I wish I have the ability to code in real life. But I'm also interested in exploring different things such as building interactive physical computing.
Projects I love.
https://www.wearecollins.com/work/sf-symphony/ This is a rebranding project Collins did for San Francisco Symphony, there's a responsive coding, that the customized typeface changes accordingly based on the melody.
https://spacetypegenerator.com/ This is an awesome online platform built by Kiel D. Mutschelknaus where users can generate their own type-based animation right from their browsers. It makes the design process approachable and fun.
Process of creating the self-portrait.
I started to build my self-portrait by illustrates it out first in illustrator. And then using the info feature trying to enter the numbers based on that in p5.js, but it didn't seem accurate, which confused me. I haven't figured this out.
fig1. sketch in Illustrator(AI)
fig2. nose drawn by "curve"
fig3. syntax I didn't figure out
Last, in console it says my "arc"s are not quite right, however, the preview result looks fine.
